Dr. Michael Hooks
Dr. Hooks graduated from UAB School of Optometry in 1983 and Auburn University at Montgomery in 1979 with a degree in Biology and Chemistry. He is Past President of the Central Alabama Optometric Society and served 3 years on the Board of Directors of the Alabama Optometric Society, as well as Committee Chairman. He currently serves on the Disaster Relief Committee of the ALOA. Dr. Hooks is a long term member of the American Optometric Association. He is Vice President and Past President of the Vestavia Hills Lions Club helping fight Diabetes and Blindness.
Dr. Hooks is a Board member of the UAB School of Optometry Golf Committee to raise scholarship money for needy students, and has served as Mission Leader to numerous countries including Tunisia, Morrocco, Mexico, Costa Rica and El Salvador providing eye care to over 150,000 indigent patients. He has served as Doctor Coordinator for the Luxottica Vision Van providing free eye care and glasses to inner city children in the Birmingham area and across the Country. Dr. Hooks also devotes one day per week proving eye care to inmates of the Department of Corrections. He is President of Hooks Eye Associates and has repeatedly won numerous awards for top patient satisfaction.
